2024 Deconstructing menopause insurance and wellness

On Her Story

Reflecting on a stressful period at work two years ago, I found myself unable to sleep for days. I thought this was due to the pressures of my job and my genetic hypertension condition, and I could just push through just like many other times. One day. following an intense meeting, I experienced rapid heartbeats, short breath and hand trembling. At that moment, I realised I needed medical attention, and fortunately, I sought help in time to take control of my condition. If I had been aware that I was going through peri-menopause, I might have paid closer attention to the signs of my body and prioritised self-care over letting work consume me.

On Menopause at Work

Despite women making up half of the Hong Kong workforce, merely 35% of female employees who are undergoing menopause seek professional support, leaving many to face this life stage alone. The stigma surrounding menopause often hinders open discussions on the topic. It is crucial to improve menopause awareness and cultivate a supportive environment for this group of women in the workplace.

This initiative not only aids the well-being of such individuals but also promotes diversity and equality within the organisation.
