In 2019 she left banking for a more tech-orientated role at Visa as General Manager for Visa Hong Kong & Macau. She is a fervent advocate for Diversity & Inclusion and Tech - she believes that technology can democratize the mental, sexual, financial and physical well-being of women. In 2018, she co-founded the Fintech Association in Hong Kong and is also co-founder of the Women Chief Executive Forum in Financial Services Hong Kong.

Early 2023 she resigned from Visa to pursue her passion for women’s health and Femtech. She started Femtech Future Limited, an advisory firm that consults to Femtech companies and MNCs companies on how to integrate women’s health into the workplace and educates leaders on the topics of Femtech and Innovation in Women’s Health. Maaike has won numerous awards, including Jessica Women in Tech Award 2024 and Harper’s Bazaar Inspirational Women Award 2023. She did TedxTinHauWomen Talk on the Femtech Revolution and on the Future of Sex at SXSW.

Her story

“I woke up one night and laid awake for hours. I cried randomly and felt tired and cranky for days. I did not sleep for months. It wasn’t until I talked to my girlfriend that I realised “Dang, this is it! I am perimenopausal!”

From there on wheels moved quickly - got some great recommendations for a Doctor and with the help of a little bit of HRT, adjusted diet and exercise, I feel I am back to my old new self again.

Don’t wait.

If you feel you have symptoms, talk to your Doctor. Help is available, don’t suffer in silence.”
